It’s the little things that count
How often do you hear your employees say, “Thank God it’s Monday!”
Not too often, I bet.
Which is a pity, because let’s face it, we spend most of our lives at work.
So why not make it a place people look forward to coming to…especially on Mondays!
When you provide an environment that encourages, promotes and nurtures a “friendly, warm and caring workplace”, business and life will become more pleasant for everyone, the end result being that productivity, morale and your bottom line will improve.
I guarantee it.
Start by asking your team what they would appreciate in terms of enhancing their work environment. You’ll be surprised how little they really want.
Investing for example, in a new microwave oven, better quality coffee, free biscuits, a water cooler or lunchtime pizza when the company has met budget are the sorts of things I am talking about…all petty cash items for most organisations.
If your finance manager says it hasn’t been budgeted for, ask them if they’ve budgeted for a 10% decrease in productivity when staff call in sick or decide to move on to a company where they do nurture and support their employees.
We all perform best when we feel we are being appreciated so why not try fresh donuts for everyone with their Monday morning coffee break every now and then.
That’s sure to get them saying ‘Thank God it’s Monday’ – in a positive way!
